Anna Emelianova began her studies at a very young age at the famous Gnessins State Musical School in her native Moscow. At first she trained as a pianist at primary school level but later switched to singing. Her great passion for opera had its start at the Stanislavsky opera theater, where she sung in a children choir and had the opportunity to hear big opera stars and share the stage with them. Anna earned her Bachelor Degree at the Gnessins Academy of Music and achieved qualifications in the fields of Concert and Opera Performance, Chamber Ensemble Artist and Vocal teacher.

She always wanted to get her Master Degree abroad and so she continued her studies in Netherlands where she successfully finished a Master’s Program in Solo and Opera singing with a Cum Laude degree. During this period Anna won a scholarship to participate in a high-level young artist’s program, the Mediterranean Opera Studio in Italy, and performed at the big stage of the Ravenna opera festival.

Straight after her studies Anna was invited to sing for Opera Zuid. For the company she has by now performed quite a number of roles. Her repertoire includes important roles which she presented at the stages of the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Russia and Luxembourg.

In opera she performed as Clorinda in La Cenerentola (Rossini), Gilda in Rigoletto (Verdi), Musetta in La bohème (Puccini), Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Sophie in Werther (Massenet), Princess Elsbeth in Fantasio (Offenbach), Juliette in Romeo et Juliette (Gounod), Snow Maiden in Snow Maiden (Rimsky-Korsakov), Despina in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart) and Micaela in Carmen (Bizet).

In 2019 Anna made her debut as Tatjana which she performed in a pocket edition of Tsjajkovski’s Jevgeni Onegin, for the Nederlandse Reisopera. In the autumn of 2023 she will back in this role again when the production is resumed.

Currently Anna is preparing for Diane in Offenbach’s opera Orphée aux enfers, a role she will perform in several theaters in the Netherlands. Please check Agenda for more information.

Anna Emelianova also gives solo recitals with different programs and performances on classical music festivals. She sings oratorios, teaches singing and piano and works as a guest artist in different projects.

Anna has been living in Maastricht ever since she arrived in the Netherlands in 2012 and has become part of the local cultural scene, so to speak. Every now and then she can be heard playing the carillon of the Stadhuis van Maastricht  which is one of her hobbies.
